San Antonio Living History
Membership
Membership is open to Texas history enthusiasts, living history interpreters, educators, students, and community supporters. New members of all ages are welcomed to join the San Antonio Living History Association. SALHA members learn about living history and how they can support this experiential learning method for the presentation of our educational living history programs and events.
Living History Interpreter Members
Living history interpreters, both veteran and new, are invited to join SALHA and participate in developing and presenting historical and cultural interpretive programs for residents, teachers, students, and heritage tourism audiences. Interpreter members receive learning resources for developing their historical personas for performance, focusing on acquiring period-correct clothing, accoutrements, equipment, and the historical skills needed to use them. Individual historical research and collaboration with other SALHA interpreters are also important sources for development of their historical persona.
Specific interpreter support is needed for: Historical research, persona development, period skills demonstrations, storytelling, acting, music, dance, and participation in public events and educational programs.

These methods encourage students to research and uncover the documented stories of historical personas identified in TEKS-aligned curricula. Educator members will be offered a professional development (CPE) course and receive historically researched resources for developing historical personas to be used in their classrooms.
Specific educator support is needed for: Curriculum development, classroom integration of living history, educational outreach, and participation in professional development programs.
